The statue was made by one of the members of Mutoid Waste Company.
The work was commissioned in 1997-98 for a pub in the city centre of Rome.
Made by welding recycled materials, it is partially moving and mainly made of metal with plastic components (wings and boots).
Members of the organisation, against any form of copyright, usually don't sign their own works.
MWC is a group of artists and performers founded in the mid-eighties in London. Their activity continued in the 1990s in Italy (they moved to Santarcangelo di Romagna, where they still reside) and they became famous for the creation of gigantic welded sculptures, also partially moving, exclusively using recycled material, coming from scrap cars or other means.
