Hippolyte Moreau is the second son of sculptor Jean-Baptiste-Louis-Joseph Moreau.
From 1863 to 1914 he exhibited at the Salon des Artistes Français where he sent subjects which were often inspired by the 18th century as it is the case here. Gold Medal at the 1878 and 1900 World Fair.
Superb spelter subject with brown patina, with the stamp ‘Fabrication Française Paris made in France’ and probably the initials of the art caster, there is a very slight wear of the patina, placed on a light cherry-red marble pedestal with a knock in the marble which is not visible, including the motto is ‘si vis pacem para bellum’ (If you want peace, prepare for war), private collection, without any knocks or cracks, please note that the sword can be removed and will be removed for shipping, the pictures are part of the description.
